47re Transmission Controller

'My father started this business back in 1947. He worked on anything that would fit through the front door of our shop, and some in the driveway that couldn't. Back then, we did everything from overhauling a carburetor on an 8N Ford tractor to rebuilding an injection pump on a GM diesel. When my brother and I bought the business from Dad in 1978, we started specializing in automatic transmissions, torque converters, electronic fuel injection, and chassis dynomometer testing.

47re Transmission

From the mid 90's to the early 2000's the 47RE has been the proven workhorse behind the 5.9L Cummins diesel engine. One of the 47RE's revolutionary features is its in cab torque converter lockup switch which has made this transmission a favorite of off roaders and anyone using their Ram for towing or pulling. The 47re was standard after 96 for all dodge diesel autos. In 03-04 they made the change to the 48re. The 47 and 48 are nearly identical with the exception of better planetary and clutch pack in the 48. Most built 47re's are really 48re's after being built due to most uses the 48 planetary anyways.
